Before Luminary started in 2001, you could only buy broadband access from an Internet Service Provider (ISP) who leased capacity from the local telephone company. Since the ISP was a middleman, the service needed to be marked up past what the local telephone carrier charges. This mark up caused the ISP to oversubscribe their networks in order to maximize revenue from each connection sold.

Luminary uses secure proven wireless technologies to provide broadband access with out the telephone company. By eliminating the telephone company from the equation we are able to provide high-quality service at a fraction of the price.

Luminary’s core network is self healing; in the unlikely event a portion of the network is damaged our network detects the cut and reroutes the internet traffic around the damaged portion of the network. Several government contractors and large business use our network for redundancy since our network is not dependent on the telephone company.
